What’s really behind Getting the Business…

Join us for a meetupEvery month, I host this meet up group for the Founding Moms NW Suburb Exchange. Jill Salzman is the founder of this fabulous meet up idea. It has now grown to 8,000 plus members in 43 different cities. And, I feel privileged to host because I’ve met some incredibly inspiring women. My intention for the group has been to create a safe place for women to be vulnerable and share not only their successes in business but also their challenges.

Last month, I was the presenter for the meet up. The topic was about Getting The Business. Before I share some of the strategies that were talked about, the number one message I’d like to begin with is ELIMINATE any and all LIMITING BELIEFS. We decide what we believe. That is a power we are blessed with unless we give it away.

If you want the business, you MUST prospect consistently. Here are some ideas:

  • LinkedIn is a professional social media tool that is incredibly powerful for acquiring leads, gaining prospective client information and getting business. 70% of the users have 200+ connections. Join groups, research your prospects, ask for introductions, showcase your expertise, build prospect lists, post value-added information and make recommendations & endorsements as they may want to reciprocate. Did you know 86.7% of top producers research their prospects first? That is one way to capitalize with this powerful tool!
  • Host and/or Participate in Events
  • Direct Marketing with a monthly or quarterly e-newsletter
  • Warm-calling could be the result of your efforts through LinkedIn (and other social media tools). Studies show the conversion rate from initial prospect to appointments increases by 16.7% when you know something relevant about the prospect. Did you know that Wednesday & Thursdays are the best days for contacting prospects AND between 8-9am or 4-5pm are the best times for contacting prospects?

    Hi Antonette,

    Thanks for sharing this post! I did not know about the best days / times as referenced in your fourth bullet. Ironically, I already set aside time on both Wednesday and Thursday for reaching out and networking. I was surprised about the time of day, though. (Especially the morning hour.)

      Hi Tracy,

      I was surprised at the morning hour too. My rule of thumb has been not to call before 9am. But research shows you can get people before 9am (as long as they don’t mind it).
